Connectivity and infrastructure

Network Infrastructure Intern

Build foundations in addressing, switching, routing, wireless, firewall concepts, diagrams and disciplined troubleshooting.

Track overview

What this learning path covers.

This track introduces the components and documentation behind business connectivity. Using labs and approved scenarios, learners may examine how endpoints, VLANs, switches, routers, wireless access, internet links, DNS and security boundaries work together.

This is an expression-of-interest track. Final scope, schedule, supervision, selection and availability are confirmed only for an approved internship engagement.

Focus areas

Topics you may explore.

  • IPv4 addressing and subnet fundamentals
  • Switching, VLAN and routing concepts
  • Wireless, DNS and internet-path awareness
  • Network diagrams, inventories and change records

Learning outcomes

Capabilities to develop.

  • Read and create a clear logical network diagram
  • Trace a connection across local, routed and external dependencies
  • Use safe diagnostic steps to narrow common connectivity issues
  • Understand why firewall, redundancy and change controls require accurate records

Supervised practice

Examples of learning activities.

Activities use approved labs, sample data or specifically authorised environments. They are adapted to the learner’s current ability and the available supervision.

01

Build a small segmented network in an approved simulator or lab

02

Document addresses, interfaces, VLANs and dependencies

03

Investigate simulated DNS, gateway and reachability faults

04

Prepare a pre-change checklist and post-change validation plan

Useful foundations

What helps you get started.

You do not need to know everything already. Use these foundations to show how you have prepared and where you want guided practice.
